Set up long covid clinics

Set up combined long covid clinics, give GPs the ability prescribe antivirals at their discretion outside the govt mandated criteria, and fund treatments that are showing successful overseas.

Why the contribution is important

Long covid can affect anyone, including healthy, working people. It's devastating and even more devastating is the fact that in New Zealand there is no support whatsoever. This impacts lives, families, and ultimately, the economy.

Long Covid clinics should also support people with ME/CFS who currently get no support whatsoever.

Long covid clinics should be post viral clinics to include all post viral illnesses that are currently completely neglected in the health system

Yes to Long Covid clinics. For maximum benefit - and fairness - these should be embedded in broader postinfectious clinics as outlined in my 'idea' titled "National postinfectious illness telehealth 4 ME/CFS, Long Covid & related illnesses". Broader postinfectious clinics can bring together a larger number of health professionals who can draw on each others' experience, to the benefit of all patients.
