Referral to a specialist should be quicker

It takes too long to see a specialist. A refferal to see a specialist should be granted after maximum 3 visits to a GP when the general doctor does not know the cause of the illness, to avoid wasting time and money, and also be mentally affected. Going to the doctor is expensive, therefore the service should be more straightforward, without coming and going and paying and paying without getting better. It is so frustrating to be sick and waste money with someone who does not know what is wrong with you.

Why the contribution is important

I have been here in NZ  for more than 20 years and the system is the same, slow, and has affected lots of people to the point of making a trip overseas to get the cure. See an specialist sooner will save money and time.

Timely referrals for issues are so important! It's concerning that if a doctor doesn't know the source of an issue and it continues referrals are not being done.
