Increase Dr numbers and use Reg nurses

Registered nurses are capable of attending to many patients while waiting for doctors.

Numbers of doctors could be increased by bringing back students hips and doctors could reduce repayments with service keeping them in the country

Why the contribution is important

We have a pool of highly trained nurses who could be given part time jobs such as maternity clinics.

We lose too many good doctors and nurses off shore

Can the government commence paying medical staff fees to go through training? In doing so. Tie them into say 2 years working in NZ.

Access to a GP does not exist in some rural towns.
Our local medical practice does have 3 nurse practitioners and 1 para medic for triage but no GP’s.
Even with a brand new medical centre with physio, ultrasound and other services available the managing company is unable to attract any GP’s for at least 6 months.
Town population is 2400. Neighbouring practices have closed books. Not good enough.
