Fund Wegovy for obese people

Obesity causes nany health problems. There is a new drug that is injected every day that can help with weight loss. Funding it would help with the obesity epidemic and take the pressure off our health system. And obese people would feel better mentally too

Why the contribution is important

It's a solution that can be implemented right away and the benefits will appear in a short time

    This is easily one of the best public health interventions available to us, and it’s something that could positivity impact Maori and PI patients most significantly, with the downstream effects of reducing the rates of diabetes, heart disease, kidney failure, sleep apnea … honestly the list is endless.

    This would change so many lives however I believe it needs to be fully funded because currently anything for weight loss and obesity is unaffordable and contributing to the endemic obesity crisis myself I've been turned away 9 xs for weightloss surgery because I'm not diabetic yet I have an extensive family genetic history of type 2 diabetes I can't afford to spend 1000s to loose weight because those funding it don't believe we are important

    This should only be considered alongside in conjunction with support for patients, as a prescription does not work on the systemic multifactorial determinants for body size…addressing food insecurity, affordable food, environments that support physical activity, social supermarkets, workplace wellness etc.
