Prevent alcohol marketing to kids via sport, regulate alcohol (add compulsory warnings to packaging, nutritional info)

Alcohol industry is marketing harmful addictive  substance to youth with very little regulation. Harm is disproportionately affecting Māori. Very low awareness in population of jow alcohol harms. Huge cost for our health system and whole society.

Why the contribution is important

Lobby in parliament for Alcohol. Strong.
    See LISTENER AND radio NZ.
Need local input. Not big business.
Must stop profit before people's well being.

Keep new alcohol stores to a minimum. We have another one opened just around the corner. No consultation, too easy to access alcohol.

Alcohol advertising and marketing should actually be banned altogether, ESPECIALLY when children are present but even as an adult, I am becoming increasingly aware of the influence. Best not allowed !

Personally I am still trying to understand how and why Supermarkets justify the stocking and selling of alcohol in their stores. I understand that it is a commonly used product in homes but it is not necessary to have it "in your face" whilst doing household shopping. If the purchaser of alcohol had to go to yet another store to buy their stocks, over time they would reduce the rate of consumption. As I was told some years ago, to change a persons habit, make it harder for them to do it.
As for advertising, surely the rate of consumption alone as seen by children, sets these same children on a path to accept alcohol as a normal in their teen and adult lives without the visual reinforcement.

I agree, alcohol causes a range of health issues including 7 types of cancer. Yet it is everywhere! We should put children over profits and protect them from alcohol industry marketing. The alcohol industry spends millions on advertising each year, because it works. Children in Aotearoa are exposed to alcohol marketing over 4.5 times daily . Greater marketing exposure increases the likelihood of earlier and more hazardous drinking.
