Create a health Ombudsman so there is Accountability
The current HDC is not effective and has no power to hold any staff accountable. The best that can be expected is an apology with no actual accountability for malpractice, unprofessional behavior, or poor performance. This also leads to a lack of transparency with actual statistics and informed consent.
Why the contribution is important
People need and deserve to be treated well at their worst times in health. Mistakes that can, worst case, end in death should be held to a much higher accountability than an apology. And because there is no formal process for these things, the public are not being fully informed with accurate statistics. For instance, would you agree to a surgeon operating on you if you were aware they had seen numerous malpractice cases or complaints?
