One health service for all!

New Zealand does not have the capacity/resources to have siloed services.  But, it can have 'tailored' services that suit, this is much more collaborative and user friendly and less alienating.

Why the contribution is important

I have had a couple of conversations recently with friends who feel alienated by the current siloing of services, they are not sure which service is for them.

I also think NZ need one affordable service....focus on affordability, access and professionalism.

All New Zealanders should be treated equally in all aspects of medicine, no special treatment for a particular race , colour or creed

100% Wayno. Everyone should be treated equally.

So, what you are saying is: Services need to have clear easy to find communication about who they are for? Great idea!
Unfortunately, I don't think that is actually what you are saying.
The problem is, the current health system has been designed very specifically for one race, and for one type of person. If it were to be made to take equal influences from all the cultures it serves (if that were even possible as many would not be simultaneously possible), then I do not think you would like the result.
So, some organisations have undertaken to provide a mere fraction of the services that we as Pakeha can expect to have tailered for us, and that fraction is what? Too much for you?
Yes, there are some services that are not built for us, or built to cater for our cultural needs. You know what? That is absolutely fine, because literally all the other ones are built specifically for us.

Are you using the same health service as us AceTimelord? The one where you have to pay for treatment unless you are Maori? I fully understand that there are certain minor differences between different people in terms of healthcare needs, but you have to ask the question why there is funding forcertain treatment for some, but the same treatment is not funded for others. We should all be treated the same in that respect.

I agree with burgermusic . We do not need two systems for 5 million people. Acetimelord I think you complicate things unnecessarily and this probably what is happening in all areas of the health system. Remove the layers of beaurcracy and duplication and have one rule for all New Zealanders. It can be simple and should be, however a few fat cats may need to be moved along the way as there are too many who are entrenched in various government gravy trains.
