Measure outcomes across the system

I'm so sick of success being seen as more dialysis machines or more surgeries.

How about celebrating less surgeries because we need fewer? Because out whanau are healthieer, have good access to primary care and are well housed?

the system has no accountability for prevention and this has to change. Measure the community's health, set some objectives with the PHO's and hold them accountable in the only way that matters - by putting their funding at risk.

And make the results public so the community can hold them to account as well.

Why the contribution is important

Otherwise this whole exercise will be a waste of time and the great Health system machine will swin back to doing what it has always done. And out whanau will struggle on.

I agree, we need robust outcomes defined by us, the people: Patient Reported Outcome Measures. We cannot be boiled down to statistics, but need the resources to invest in compiling stories and narratives to better understand the statistics. Good outcome measures must be invested in.
