GP funding for skin cancer medicine
Currently this is totally unfunded. I can cut out a skin cancer within a week for a cost of about 500 dollars to the patient, versus a wait of months ( sometimes up to 8) for hospital excision, which costs thouands - not to mention all the time wasted with back and forward chasing the referral which often gets lost or re directed to another apartment, onyl to be re directed back....
Surely funding GPs to cut out skin cancers is a no brainer - saves the system money, prevents advanced skin cancers, much nicer for the patient
Why the contribution is important
It will save patients developing advanced, life threatening skin cancer and will save the system a lot of money
